A Rapid Situational Analysis on Child and Family Poverty in Cheshire and Merseyside(August 2024)

In Cheshire and Merseyside, 100,300 children live in low-income families, with child poverty rates worsening since 2021. Lone-parent and ethnic minority families are most affected, and 6 in 10 children in poverty come from working households. Health issues like obesity, dental decay, and asthma are more common, and educational attainment lags, particularly for those on free school meals.
